Receptionist, waiter docked for allegedly stealing employer’s N7.3m

1 A receptionist, Joy Usher, (female), 28, and a waiter, James Omolediho, were moored at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday for allegedly stealing N7. 3 million, belonging to their employer.

2 Usher and Omolediho who live in , Lekki, Lagos are charged with conspiracy, forgery and theft.


3 Prosecution lawyer ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offense was committed between January and May 2022 at the Eastgate Hotel Ajah, Lagos.


4 Akeem said the defendants used the hotel outlet to defraud the N7 company. 325million.

5 The prosecutor said that when the hotel’s account was audited, it was discovered that the value of the POS received was greater than the money received into the account.

6 He also said that the POS machine was also discovered to have been tampered with.

seven Akeem said the defendants also forged copies of the hotel’s POS payment receipts.

8 The offence, he said, violates the provisions of Sections 287, 365 and 412 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

9 The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.

ten O Osunsanmi, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N500,000 each with two sureties in likesum.

11 Osunsanmi adjourned the case until September 27 for citation.
